Airco Comfort Systems promotes Baylor/Mirage Cycling Club in Dallas

July 1, 1997 --

DALLAS -- Airco Comfort Systems, Inc. has found a fun, innovative way to enhance its business and increase new customer referrals. The Garland-based heating and air conditioning dealership receives almost 15 percent of its new customer referrals either directly or indirectly through the sponsorship of the Baylor/Mirage Cycling Team, Dallas' largest bicycle racing club.

"We have sponsored the team for the past five years," says Ken Ridout, president and founder, Airco Comfort Systems and member of the Baylor/Mirage Cycling Team. "Our sponsorship and community involvement with the team is a great way to get in touch with existing and potential customers."

With approximately 125 active members, the Baylor/Mirage Cycling Team competes in organized racing events throughout Texas. Competitive members train 15 to 25 hours, logging as many as 400 miles on their bicycles per week. The commitment has paid off with team wins and high placings at United States Cycling Federation races. Members have earned gold, silver and bronze medals at annual state road races, criterium races and time trial championships.

The team also conducts safe bicycling seminars and training rides for beginning cyclists. Safe cycling instruction and the importance of wearing protective helmets are stressed, especially to elementary school children.

In addition to teaching bicycle safety, the Baylor/Mirage Cycling Team adopted a quarter-mile segment of roadway and shoreline at White Rock Lake, a local park and recreation area. Under a plan promoted by the city of Dallas, clubs and organizations can adopt a stretch of lake area in the center of Dallas, keeping it clean and preserving the beauty and value of the park.

Airco Comfort Systems also developed HVAC Office®, a complete software package for the heating, ventilating and air conditioning industry.

"We use this software in every facet of our business," says Ridout. "It is the heartbeat of our operation. HVAC Office ensures reliable customer service by managing service calls, installations and preventive maintenance. We've been using this program for almost four years." The program is being marketed to heating and air conditioning dealers across the United States.

Airco has been a Bryant Heating & Cooling Systems dealer since 1986. The contractor recently was awarded the 1995 Bryant Gold Medal of Excellence, the manufacturer's most prestigious honor. As a Gold Medal of Excellence recipient, the dealership was one of the top 11 out of nearly 1,000 Bryant Premier Dealers nationwide that competed for the award. Airco also won the Bryant Gold Medal of Excellence in 1990 and 1993, a silver medal in 1992 and a bronze medal in 1991.

Airco Comfort Systems carries a full line of Bryant heating and cooling systems including air conditioners, gas furnaces and a range of indoor air quality and comfort products.

Bryant Heating & Cooling Systems, founded in 1904, manufactures and markets commercial and residential heating and cooling systems for sale in both the United States and Canada.
